Information needed about governor vacancies
Where can I find out information about governor vacancies in my local area?

Question: Where can I find out information about governor vacancies in my local area?

Joan Sallis replies: Write to your Governor Services Department at the LEA offices. Or if you fancy any particular local schools you can write to the Chair of or Clerk to Governors at the school(s) concerned. That way you may get earlier information of likely vacancies. The possibilities are (a) being nominated to represent the LEA itself; (b) being co-opted by the governing body as community governors; (c) being chosen to represent a faith in the case of a voluntary aided school; or of course (d) standing for election as a parent in your child’s own school when a vacancy occurs.
