School of concern (08/03/06)
Question: Is there a legal responsibility for a head to disclose to the governing body within a timescale that the school is a school of concern (SOC) or is it the role of the chair?

Joan Sallis replies: I don’t know of any precise ruling to this effect but I would expect the whole governing body to be told as soon as possible that a school has been given any “concern” category as a result of an inspection, whether it is the head or chair who actually delivers it. It is their responsibility to act on the report.
