1001 Inventions: the Muslim Heritage in our World

1001 Inventions: Discover the Muslim Heritage in our World began a UK-wide tour at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry on March 8, 2006. It has since been in the National Museum Wales, Cardiff.

The exhibition will be opening at Think Tank, Millennium Centre in Birmingham on Saturday 26 May 2007.

Split into seven zones – home, school, market, hospital, town, world and universe – the project emphasises how Muslim scholars from the period 7th to 17th centuries, commonly known as the European Dark Ages, worked harmoniously alongside people of different faiths across the continents, and made extensive scientific contributions to civilization. These include the camera, flying with wings and navigation devices.

Teachers’ packs are available for secondary schools.
