Winston Churchill Memorial Trust: travelling fellowships - annual

British citizens are invited to apply for the 100 travelling fellowships available each year for projects overseas lasting from four to eight weeks. The grant covers return air fare, travel within the country(ies) to be visited, daily living and travel insurance. Categories include: arts and crafts; conservation and the environment; science and technology; education and training; sport, recreation and adventure; the citizen and society; and animal welfare. Closing date for applications: the last week of October.

In 2005 award winners included Dave Welton, filmmaker and conservationist from Pembrokeshire, who went to Japan and Nepal to produce educational films about the dragonfly. The highlight was filming "Mukashi Tombo", the ancient relict dragonfly found only in Japan, with the help of local schools and the staff at a dragonfly park.
