Claims of harassment by head (30/06/06)
Question: One of the members of our extended school - not employed by the Governors or LEA has issued a complaint against the headteacher, claiming that he has been intimidated / harassed by the head. This person making the complaint is neither a member of staff, nor a parent. If we uphold this complaint - what action can be taken against the headteacher and how should this be formally tackled?

Joan Sallis replies: Even a member of the public can complain to governors. Investigate it in the same way as your policy lays down on any other complaint. If you found that the complainant had a case you could direct the head to apologise.
