Headteacher's right to vote? (03/07/06)
Question: Can a headteacher vote in election for teacher governor?

Joan Sallis replies: This is one of the many occasions when it doesn’t ‘say anywhere’ but my instinct is to say that I would prefer not. The head teacher is a staff governor by right and should be content with that. I think it would make a better impression if the head teacher stood aside from the election of a rank and file representative. I’m sure someone will correct me but I am only speaking from the standpoint of what I see to be equity.
