I am being investigated over an assault (02/08/06)
Question: I am being investigated by the chair of governors for an allegation of assault. It is still in the investigation stage. The chair has told me that she has informed the governors of the investigation at a full governors meeting. She tells me that they have elected her as the investigating officer, and that she has already appointed the first committee. Can you advise me on these issues?

Joan Sallis replies: It is wrong that the detail of the alleged misdemeanour should be disclosed to ALL governors at this stage and could prejudice the outcome: it should be strictly kept within the panel. It sounds as if the chair is dominating the process too much.
