Men considering career change favour teaching
Professional men are now plotting their escape from the office - as their successful partners pledge their financial support, according to PA News.

According to new research by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) a third of men (32 per cent) have a partner who earns as much or more than them - which means that a career switch is a now a more feasible option for many men.

Half (52 per cent) say their partner would be able to support them through training while they changed professions.

A fifth of office-based graduate men are currently considering a career change with 55 per cent saying they will do so in the future. Practical careers will be the main beneficiaries as 62 per cent say they would prefer a more hands on job, with 44 per cent of those preferring a non-office based workplace aspiring for a profession that allows them to use practical skills.

The top professions favoured by graduate men considering a career change are:

1. Teaching 41%

2. Science research and development 29%

3. Engineering 21%

4. Retail 19%

5. Social work 16%
