Are your staff being bullied?
Teacher Support Network (TSN) and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) are working together to raise awareness of cyber-bullying.

TSN and ATL want to hear about your experiences relating to mobile, email and internet bullying, by pupils, colleagues, managers, parents etc.

Patrick Nash, Chief Executive of Teacher Support Network, said:

“During Anti-Bullying Week we must not forget that some adults, as well as young people, face bullying and harassment in and around school and increasingly online.

“So far this year, Teacher Support Network has been contacted by 159 teachers about bullying and 18 who were concerned about their relationship with pupils, in particular because of abuse, threats and violence. Teacher Support Network believes that teachers should be protected against all forms of bullying and harassment, whatever form it takes.”

Dr Mary Bousted, General Secretary of ATL, said:

“ATL is deeply concerned about the rise of cyber-bullying. Some of our members have had horrendous experiences. These new forms of bullying using mobile phones and the internet need to be recognised as being as damaging as face to face bullying.

The survey, which can be accessed via the Teacher Support Network website will run until mid January 2007.
