How to become a governor
Information about governor vacancies in your local area.
First, write to the Governor Services Department at your local LEA offices. Alternatively, write to the Chair of, or Clerk to, Governors at the school(s) concerned. That way you may get earlier information of likely vacancies.

The possibilities are:

(a) being nominated to represent the LEA itself;
(b) being co-opted by the governing body as community governors;
(c) being chosen to represent a faith in the case of a voluntary aided school; or
(d) standing for election as a parent in your child’s own school when a vacancy occurs.
