Teachers 'among worst for gossiping'
Teachers, bankers and stockbrokers are worst for gossiping about colleagues behind their backs, according to a new report today. PA News.
The main "bitching" topics are the boss, other people's personal lives and the work performance of colleagues.

A survey of 2,000 employees showed that office politics was alive and well across the UK, with one in three of those polled preferring to talk about someone behind their back.

The poll, conducted by business information firm Leaders in London, also found that many people believed a healthy amount of mickey-taking was good for the working atmosphere.

Ros Oxley of Leaders in London said: "People tend to pull together, watch each other's backs and operate less fractiously in occupations where there is a common goal and where teamwork is important - for example, the emergency services.

"In other arenas, where individual achievement is key and opportunities for promotion are heavily competed for, people are more inclined to use each other to lever themselves towards the top."

The top 10 professions for office bitching are said to be teaching, financial services, catering, medicine, travel, police, media, telecoms, pharmaceuticals and emergency services.
