Charity supports commitment to tackling bullying
Teacher Support Network has welcomed the Government’s response to the Education and Skills Select Committee report on bullying and their commitment to update anti-bullying guidance to ensure school anti-bullying policies also cover the bullying of school staff.
Patrick Nash, Chief Executive of Teacher Support Network said:

“I am very pleased that the Government has listened to Teacher Support Network and endorsed the Select Committee recommendation that school anti-bullying policies should protect teachers and other school staff as much as the pupils.

“Bullying, harassment and concerns relating to relationships with pupils, including malicious allegations, have been the subject of 10 per cent of all calls and emails to Teacher Support Network in the last six months. We know from these cases of the significant long-term impact on a teacher’s wellbeing, their confidence and enthusiasm for their job and, therefore, the knock-on effect on the educational experience of young people.

“Teacher Support Network looks forward to the revised anti-bullying guidance and will work to promote the implementation of this guidance among schools, ensuring that staff as well as pupils are protected from bullying in all its manifestations.
