Just started teaching at Newcastle College, after just over 3 years on supply teaching I have taugh across the areas of D&T and Art. I went to Sunderland Uni for a while; 1st I did a BA in Glass and Ceramics. Focusing on hand build ceramics and won the school art prize in 02 for fired clay. Then an MA in Art and Design in Context which focused on art in the outside world and working with a local primary school to develop cross curricular art, making little hands express ideas in a new way. After a couple of years doing freelance Art, children’s workshops and working for a few months as a classroom assistant in a rather large primary school. I re-entered university to do a PGCE in Design in Technology which typically for me took longer than most as I did a year’s conversion course and then during my professional year got chicken pox so redid my 2nd placement at a school I also did my NQT year in.
