Walk4Life
http://www.walk4life.info
– a map based website designed to encourage people to walk more. The walk4Life website uses OS maps to show walking routes. It is free and easy to use, and safe for children. You can use the site to plot a walking route, see how long it is, keep a record of how far you have walked over time, and take challenges. You can even work out how fit you are. Schools can set up their own groups, and compete with other groups, or schools to reach virtual targets (e.g. walking to London or Paris). Children can plot their route to school to encourage them to see how far it is, and to walk it. Teaching ideas and resources are also available at
http://www.walk4schools.info.
