The Classroom
The Classroom was established in 2011, by busy teachers for busy teachers from the organisation Schools OUT. It arose from the need of teaching practitioners to have easy access to free lesson plans that include Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans (LGBT) people & also the need to educate out other forms of prejudice. The Classroom website offers a series of free lesson plans to enable you to include the LGBT experience in class, and includes links to a wide range of resources that supplement our lesson plans. The intention of the website is to include more lessons both on LGBT people & issues & the other ‘protected characteristics’, giving resources to teachers & enabling them to be inclusive, thus meeting the needs of the Public Duty effectively & constructively. Schools OUT has been in existence since 1974 working to make LGBT people safe & visible in education, producing resources, campaigning & supporting teachers, staff, governors, students & parents.
