NERC
"Next Generation Science"
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funds research and training in the environmental sciences to advance knowledge of planet Earth. Our work covers atmospheric, earth, biological, terrestrial and aquatic sciences, from the deep oceans to the upper atmosphere, the poles to the equator. Our mission is to gather and apply knowledge and communicate all aspects of our work. Planet Earth online is our flagship website and summarises much of the research we do in an up to date and accessible format. We produce other resources to help teachers bring environmental science to life in the classroom, and our researchers visit schools as STEM ambassadors. More information at
