"It might come in useful!"
I trained to teach Textiles at Bretton Hall College of Education 1973. My second subject was Audio Visual Aids, which started my love of photography. Within two years I was Head of Textiles and 2nd in the Art Department of a large comprehensive school. I was a Mode 1 E.A.E.B. Textiles Examiner for CSE, and introduced my own Mode 3. Four years later I was suddenly told I would have to teach Food. I didn’t even study it for O’level because I disliked the Cookery teacher! I only agreed on condition that I could do a Home Economics Conversion Course which I ended up doing for one afternoon and evening per week for two years. After having children I went back to teaching Textiles, Food and ICT. A few years later I became Head of Food until I retired in August 2011. A.V.A. has always stood me in good stead, from Bandas and Epidiascope, to OHP’s and Interactive White Boards; hence the large amount of resources that I had available to upload to the TES!
