  • Dear Nick,

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad that you have found the resources useful.

Yes, the YouTube issue is a bother but we'll keep looking for other links / sources.

If any of you have suggestions for audio / video material that would be appropriate for inclusion in the Spoken Language collection, please message me with the details.

    Regards,

  • Like you we cannot access You Tube BUT........You can download You Tube materials into Real player. Then play it at school. Our IT Department have installed FLV so we can play video type materials in any format. Hope this helps.

  • I love this resource - thank you - and it sounds churlish to be critical, but trying to download it all to create a single, printed document is quite difficult - the folders and subfolders don't seem to be in a particular order, some are pdf/word duplicates etc. Is it possible to create one whole document which could be downloaded / printed? Thank you.

  • Dear Strawb009, Salesian and CarolineEm,

Thank you all for your feedback.

    Is FLV flash video, Salesian?

    Re your queries, Caroline.

We always provide both WORD and PDF versions of our printable resources. Word docs are provided so that teachers can edit the resources and activities to suit their teaching style / students. PDF versions are provided as they make printing so much easier. Is this duplication something you think we should continue with?

The packs have been 'split' as many of them are very large - often over a hundred pages - and also because not all elements apply to all awarding bodies. That said, it would be easier for us to provide one document - or a few smaller ones. More opinions on this would be appreciated.

Re the strange order of the resources, this is something that should be fixed soon. In the meantime, and though not ideal, all resources are numbered and can be checked against the content listing.

Again, thank you for your feedback. It will be used as we develop future collections and, indeed, if we need to make some retrospective tweaks to those already published.

    Kind regards,

    Chantel

  • Dear Caroline,

We have collated the resources in the collection now. That is, resources 1 -10 are available as one word or pdf file, resources 11 - 20 can be downloaded in another, etc. So, four files to download instead of 38! Hope that makes it easier for you all.

Unfortunately, and now that the pack is no longer 'split', and although it is not always a true refection of the content, I have had to label each file as 'worksheet'.

    Regards,

    Chantel

  • Hi there - you can download a free application called Freecorder 4 at:

http://applian.com/freecorder4 which lets you capture most videos on YouTube for free, as MP4s.

if you have capturing software such as Pinnacle (I think Windows movie Maker may work too) you can import them and save them as a WMV file. Then you can embed them into powerpoints, IWB flipcharts etc. You don't need to worry about a lack of internet connection or server problems again as you will have the clips you want securely saved!

I hope this makes sense! :-)

  • This is an amazing resource. Not just for my pupils but it has helped me get my head around this new topic.

***A quick note for anyone who has trouble using youtube links:

I prepare the clips I want to use in class by downloading them at home using the website called www.keepvid.com. Just paste in the youtube url address and download it to your computer or memory stick. Quick, simple and means that for any media topic you can be stocked up with useful vid clips!
