Mathscasts Videos
Collection Author: Craig Barton - Maths AST and creator of www.mrbartonmaths.com (TES Name: mrbartonmaths)
In my experience, students find videos really useful. They may have missed the lesson through illness, or not quite grasped one little part of a topic when it was being discussed in class. Reading through their notes, or even trying an interactive lesson on MyMaths are all well and good, but there is nothing like the reassuring voice of a teacher to guide them through the main concepts. Whenever I record videos for my students, they also like the fact that they can mute me whenever they want.
This collection of videos has been produced and kindly shared on TES by William Wright . I really like the professional feel of them – similar in a way to the excellent CGP and Maths Watch videos which, of course, you have to pay for.
Here is Will to explain more:
“We have made a series of short maths revision videos, mathscasts, for pupils to watch and practice at home. The project has aimed to encourage pupils to revise topics they struggle with at home as they can watch examples being done slowly and in a way that they are used to seeing. It allows them to revise topics they may not have been able to do alone. The project centres around YouTube which is something our pupils enjoy using. We find it has also been useful for new staff to see the way in which we teach new topics and have a consistent approach across the department.”
I really hope you enjoy these videos. More are in the pipeline, so keep checking back, and also please visit Will’s excellent website Mathscast website
