Professor John Eggleston, chairman of Warwick University's education department, has been appointed visiting professor at the University of Central England, Birmingham. He is to assist the faculty of education in its research development programme.

The Royal Naval School, Haslemere, Surrey, and The Grove School, Hindhead, are to merge in September 1995. Head of the new school will be Colin Brooks, currently head of The Grove School. Dr Jill Clough, head of the Royal Naval School, has been appointed head of Wimbledon High School, London SW19.

Simon Goulden, executive director of Jews' College, London, has been appointed chief executive of the Agency for Jewish Education.

Andrew Donald, housemaster at Ardvreck School, Crieff, Perthshire, will replace Michael Wareham as head of New Park School, St Andrews, Fife, in September.
