Sabbatical award

Article | Published in TES Newspaper on 18 April, 1997 | By: tes editorial

Tony Breslin, director of sixth-form studies at the School of St David and St Katherine in Hornsey, has won the 1997 Parry Rogers Research Scholarship worth Pounds 50,000. The award, from the Edexcel foundation, was open to teachers with projects to bridge the gap between academic and vocational education. Mr Breslin will use the money to take a year's sabbatical to work on his scheme, which will reduce the number of GSCE exam subjects from 10 to eight, making room for students to take a double-option GNVQ.
