Resource of the week

Weird world

Maths teachers love numbers, but how can they share their passion with their pupils? This collection of starters and discussion points, based on the cult maths book How to Make a Camel Smoothie by Gary Rimmer, considers numbers in the world around us. One activity asks pupils to imagine the world is a village of 200 people and reveals that 103 would be men, 162 would come from the least developed countries, 58 would believe in witchcraft and one would eat McDonald's every day.
