Job overview

For some professionals, giving children the best start in life isn't just a job, it's a passion

At the London Borough of Barnet, we believe every child has the right to the highest standards of education. We're committed to making sure that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families receive the finest levels of advice and support. That's why we're now recruiting for six new members of staff to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team.

Advisory Teacher for Children and Young People with Visual Impairment (MSI)

Responsible for ensuring young people with a visual impairment are being fully catered for and making good progress in their school environment, in this stimulating role you will work with children of all ages. As a teacher with a qualification in children with sight disabilities and/or a recognised deaf/blind qualification, you will support parents with home visits, explaining how they can best meet the needs of their children. It will also be your ability to deliver high quality support and training that will ensure teachers are confident employing communication methods such as Braille, as well as appropriately using specialist equipment.

The above role offers the chance to be part of something really unique. We'll reward your hard work with a generous benefits package and support your career ambitions to our full capabilities, just as you'll be supporting the future of Barnet's children. So contact us today and join a team that's constantly striving towards the achievable ideal that every young person deserves a fair start in life.

To apply for this position, please contact Judith Gainsborough, Principal Educational Psychologist and HEAD OF Specialist Inclusion Services on 020 8359 7667.
