Job overview

We are seeking an Inclusion Teacher to work within the EYIT, part of the Integrated Early Years Service. This is a varied, rewarding and specialist role, requiring a mixture of skills. Our children have complex needs and may require a particular evidence-based intervention. The evidence is that we have a positive impact on the outcomes for children with SEND. The parent's feedback about the team's contribution is consistently positive.

You will need to be flexible and work across a range of settings and locations across Camden, supporting the work of individual practitioners working in early years settings (Children's Centres, nurseries etc) and others delivering the EYFS.

As part of the Area SENCO team you will:

  • Provide consultation, advice, and training on the Code of Practice for the Identification of children with Special Educational Needs, and the Equalities Act, to the maintained Children's Centres and Independent, Private and Voluntary settings within the London Borough of Camden
  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary team working with providers in the maintained, private voluntary and independent sectors across the borough
  • Plan and deliver training that supports inclusion in early years settings
  • Establish and maintain effective liaison with: staff in referred child's setting, parents and carers of referred children, other professional colleagues
  • Provide advice and support to early years settings to enable access to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for children with special educational needs, work alongside staff in early years settings, modelling good practice and demonstrate the use of recommended strategies
  • Plan, record and implement interventions for children referred to the Early Years Intervention Team by settings
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and staff and other professionals to remove the barriers to learning and inclusion for individual children
  • Attend team meetings and to contribute to the development of policy and good practice of the whole service
  • Contribute to the development of the Early Years Intervention Team, through evaluation of the service provided and review of current national and local initiatives
  • Plan, record and implement interventions for children referred to the Early Years Intervention Team by settings
  • Identify good practice in settings and develop ways of disseminating it across partnership settings
  • Organise and manage workload in response to the requirements and needs of the settings.

QTS essential SENCo post graduate training strongly recommended.

In return, you can expect a great range of benefits including a fantastic pension scheme. We also recognise and reward high performance, and salary progression is based on individual performance.

Make it work for you. Make it your Camden.

Camden is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults, children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
