Aspiring Principal Designate

Thomas Lucas Academy proposes to open a secondary school (11-19) in Hounslow in September 2016. Supported by the Royal London Society for Blind People (RLSB) and an experienced group of educationalists, business people and community members, it will have a focus on academic attainment, superb pastoral care and technology. Alongside this, the academy will draw on the experience of RLSB to establish a centre of excellence for the education of vision impaired (VI) children and young people.

We are seeking to further strengthen our team with a dynamic senior leader with an aspiration to naming them as Principal Designate for the school on application to the Department for Education or at a later stage of the process. We recognise that candidates will currently be valued members of staff and as such will be sensitive to the needs of the current school and mindful of the timing of any announcements of their involvement.

Our ideal candidate will bring significant experience and success as a senior leader in state-maintained Secondary education. They will be able to demonstrate a passion for, and track record in, improving outcomes for secondary aged children in a similar environment. While experience of working with VI students would be of interest, we are keen to hear from anyone who has a passion for improving the outcomes for all learners, including those with disabilities.

They will help shape an already well developed education vision and work with a high-performing team to bring our plans to fruition. In return, we offer the chance to lead a school that will set the standard for integrating vision impaired young people in a mainstream educational environment that will at least match the best currently on offer in the state-maintained or private sectors.
