Job overview

Assessment Managers x 3 (CE1002)

Cambridge English Language Assessment is a part of Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. We provide exams in English for speakers of other languages taken by over 4 million candidates worldwide each year, as well as the leading range of qualifications for language teachers.

We have three vacancies at Assessment Manager level in the Assessment and Operations Group. These are excellent opportunities for experienced ESOL/EFL professionals with an interest in assessment.

In this interesting and varied role, you will take responsibility for the production of certain question papers. This includes managing item writer teams, editing, pretesting and proofreading, along with other related administrative responsibilities. You will also work with external consultants to ensure the accurate marking of candidate answers, participate in the grading of examinations, and take part in developing and updating key documents, such as examination reports. A high standard of English, the ability to communicate well both in writing and verbally, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to proofread accurately are therefore essential requirements.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and in addition to a TEFL qualification, are likely to hold a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics or similar. Significant and relevant ESOL/EFL experience, preferably related to Cambridge English exams, is essential. Applicants should have extensive experience in preparing candidates for Cambridge English exams (some gained overseas) and/or extensive knowledge of our exams and test production procedures and systems. Experience of the administration of these examinations would be an advantage, as would experience of examining for written and/or speaking papers. General administrative experience would also be of benefit.

You will be very adaptable, a quick learner, and feel comfortable with data and technology. You will have the desire to expand your knowledge of assessment through on-the-job training and by attending courses. In addition, you will have the ability to work well both in a team and independently and be keen to work in a busy office environment. Experience of meeting deadlines across multiple activities and excellent attention to detail are essential.

The closing date for applications is Monday 6 October 2014 and interviews will take place on Monday 20 October and Tuesday 21 October 2014.
