Job overview

Fixed term contract for 6 months.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced assessment professional looking for a new challenge to join an innovative and dynamic organisation working to produce top-class assessments. This will be fixed term initially and a permanent post may be available at a later date.

Who we are

Cambridge International Examinations is the world's largest provider of international qualifications for 5-19 year olds. Our qualifications are taken in over 160 countries and recognised by universities, education providers and employers across the world. We are part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, a not-for-profit organisation and a department of the University of Cambridge. We share in their mission of providing excellence in education.

What it's about

This position will be part of the Assessment Projects Group. We are working on fast-moving projects with international clients (currently Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Egypt and Mongolia) to produce new assessments which fit with new curricula. These are often innovative for our clients and present an exciting opportunity to change the face of assessment for learners. For many projects we are working in bilingual or even trilingual contexts, which bring an extra dimension to the work.

What you'll be doing

You will be managing the development of an assessment system for schools from Grades 1 to 12, working closely with the client. This will include classroom assessment practice and aspects of formative assessment systems. You'll be writing, proof-reading and signing off detailed reports relating to this area. You will also be working with consultants to manage and deliver high quality training for bespoke international projects. This will include the practicalities of assessment including such areas as test design, test production processes, marking and grading. You may also have a role in managing syllabus production processes, working with subject specialists on the production of test specifications, sample and live assessment material. You'll be checking, proof-reading and signing off question papers and mark schemes, as well as managing examiners to ensure that assessments are accurately marked and graded.

What we're looking for

An enthusiastic team player who is self-motivated and confident in this specialist area. You'll be a graduate, with experience in teaching (possibly in an international context) and will have an in-depth knowledge of the principles and practice of assessment. You will have significant experience of the different types of assessment practice in schools and will be able to bring this experience to the areas in which we work. A keen problem solver with excellent writing skills and meticulous accuracy, you'll have a proven ability to manage your workload when under pressure to meet multiple deadlines and will enjoy contributing to the success of Cambridge International Examinations.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 3rd August 2014 with interviews on 13th August 2014.
