Job overview

Cambridge English Language Assessment is a part of Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. We provide exams in English for speakers of other languages taken by over 4 million candidates world-wide each year, as well as the leading range of qualifications for language teachers.

We have a vacancy at Assessment Support Manager level in the Assessment and Operations Group. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ESOL/EFL professional with an interest in assessment, or for an administrator with knowledge and experience of Cambridge English test production and administration procedures who wants to move to a role more focused on assessment. Full training and professional development will be provided.

In this interesting and varied role, you will support Assessment Managers and take responsibility for certain activities in the production of tests, which may include editing, proofreading and checking of materials, and the processing and grading of examinations, as well as developing and updating key documents, such as examination reports. Additional duties in materials production and support for other projects may be required as the need arises.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have relevant EFL/ESOL experience, preferably related to Cambridge English exams. A TEFL qualification, experience in preparing candidates for Cambridge English examinations (some gained overseas) and administrative experience, preferably in an EFL/education/assessment environment, would be desirable. Experience in oral or written examining would be of benefit.

A high standard of English is required: you will need to display good proofreading skills and communicate well both in writing and verbally. You will be very adaptable, a quick learner, and feel comfortable with data and technology. You will have the ability to work well both in a team and independently and be keen to work in a busy office environment. Experience of meeting deadlines across multiple activities and excellent attention to detail are essential.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 12 November 2014 and interviews will take place on Thursday 20 November 2014.
