A unique opportunity to join a rapidly improving academy; to be part of a high performing team; to develop into an outstanding leader; to make a difference.

The Manchester Health Academy opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust with Manchester City Council as co-sponsor. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and is now amongst the most popular schools in the city, showing significant academic improvement, a rapidly expanding student population and a growing sixth form provision.

Our vision is to combine education and health in transforming the futures of our young people. We aim for our students to become successful, engaged life-long learners, able to make a significant contribution to society.  We are on the journey to becoming the secondary provider of choice and the hub of our local community: we will achieve this ambition. Does this excite you? Do you want to be part of something exceptional?

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and a highly motivated aspiring senior leader, with a proven track record of success and of raising pupil attainment.  You will play a central role in guiding a successful and high performing department towards even better outcomes for our students; last year 80% of our students achieved 3 levels of progress - you will help drive the department to achieve more.  You will play a significant role in continuing the development of a ground-breaking curriculum, designed in house to utilise the unique facilities available at MHA.  You will be responsible for leading the development of key staff members, and will play a significant role in strategic planning for the department.  You will be an outstanding teacher, committed, with a unique approach to teaching and learning that inspires both colleagues and students.  You will be ambitious and seeking to develop into a Head of Department in the near-future.

In return we will promise you a stimulating, supportive and rewarding working environment, where all staff are valued and encouraged to participate in the development of the Academy vision and strategy.  The Maths department enjoys strong and supportive leadership at SLT level, and you will be closely supported to realise your full potential. You will have the opportunity to access a range of excellent professional opportunities to support your progression, for example through the Teaching Leaders programme. You will join an established and supportive Maths team, and will have the opportunity to work with exceptional staff and students, for whom your hard work and commitment will make a real difference!
