About Us

Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford, which furthers the University's objectives of excellence in research, scholarship and education by publishing worldwide.

The Education Division provides books and resources across Primary, Secondary, Trade and Children's markets, both for the UK and for customers around the world. We are passionately committed to our mission to educate and inspire through book, board, and screen.

The secondary mathematics team produces high-quality educational books and software for UK secondary schools, covering Key Stage 3, GCSE and post-16. Editorial posts have become available in the team as we move into publishing for new GCSE and A level specifications.

About the Role

The Assistant Editor / Editor will entail working on a wide range of exciting new titles in secondary maths, both print-based and online.

This role will involve:

  • Editing and handling scripts across various publishing projects, in both print and digital formats
  • Liaising closely with authors, freelance editors and in-house teams
  • Ensuring that backlist titles are maintained to ensure quality and to satisfy customer need
  • Researching educational markets

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Maths subject knowledge to a good GCSE (or equivalent) or above
  • An interest in education and how educational resources are used

Ideally the successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience within educational markets, perhaps gained within a school environment

We are looking to recruit this role at either Assistant Editor or Editor level, depending on the experience of the successful candidate. We would expect an Editor to have previous publishing experience gained within an editorial environment

The salary offered will be in the region of £20,000 - £24,000 depending on skills and experience. OUP offers a full range of supporting benefits.
