Brays School is a highly successful maintained primary special school for 138 pupils set on the outskirts of multicultural Birmingham. Brays School is a National Support School and a National School of Creativity. It enjoys many other accolades and is deemed by Ofsted to be outstanding in all areas of provision, most recently in 2013. Brays School enjoys strong partnerships with parents/carers, local schools, professional bodies and the Local Authority. We wish to recruit to a new post in order to expand our highly successful leadership team.

Brays School has a forward looking and committed staff team dealing with a complex population of children. Our children have learning, physical communication, sensory and complex medical difficulties.

The successful applicant will contribute to whole school development, with key responsibilities across the school that will include overseeing. This post will have a 0.3 FTE teaching commitment.

Brays School is seeking applications from motivated, creative and enthusiastic individuals who:

  • Are outstanding classroom practitioners with some leadership experience who is likely to be a recent subject or phase leader.
  • Are strategic thinkers, able to contribute to the vision for the school's future, inspire others and share the leadership of our school.
  • Are knowledgeable, experienced and effective in promoting high quality teaching and learning, which meets the needs of pupils with a diverse range of needs.
  • Have ambition and commitment to raising standards and are confident in supporting staff through the use of a range of specialist strategies to help children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Are committed to working in partnership with pupils, parents, staff, governors and others to strengthen our role within the community.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring Assessment and Curriculum, supporting whole school.
  • Safeguarding.
  • Overseeing specific curriculum areas and the line management of some of the Middle Leaders.
  • Overseeing parental engagement within the school.
