Values and Vision

The school motto is “Enjoy and Excel”. It is academically ambitious, aiming to ensure that its students have personally and socially fulfilling lives.

Friern Barnet believes that a strong grounding in the arts, notably art, music, dance, theatre and culture, can enhance students' learning, making sure that each child is challenged and rewarded in equal measure. The school is about more than just about academic achievement: students are taught to become responsible citizens as much as they are encouraged to be independent learners.

Ofsted

"Following the Ofsted visit to the school on 18 April 2018, there is no change to the school’s current overall effectiveness grade of good as a result of this inspection."

“Teaching is good overall and a small proportion is outstanding. Good attention is given to individual pupils in lessons, allowing all groups of pupils to make progress. Senior leaders and those in charge of subjects carry out checks on the quality of teaching, and on the progress pupils make, on a regular basis. As a result, the rate of progress in English and mathematics is improving quickly.”
