Job overview

St Martin's Academy is at a very exciting time in its development as a new primary school situated in the heart of Chester in the popular suburb of Hoole. Opened in 2013 as part of the national Free Schools Program with a class of 25 children in reception, St Martin's now has 50 children on role with a strategic plan to grow one class per year until we become a full one form entry primary school in 2019. Offering an extended day, full wrap around care and smaller class sizes has ensured the Academy offers a choice of provision within the local context and has been oversubscribed since opening.

As part of the development of our team and to add to the strategic leadership of our school, the Trust wishes to appoint a passionate, inspirational and highly motivated practitioner to undertake the role of Assistant Headteacher within a supportive and friendly school. As Assistant Headteacher you will lead the staff team across Foundation Stage and KS1 ensuring excellent outcomes for all children and maintain the schools strong reputation for working in partnership with parents. As Director of Studies, you will be responsible for the development of our International Baccaluratette curriculum and assessment procedures across the school as it moves beyond the infant phase. This is an ideal opportunity for an outstanding teacher to develop their leadership skills at a senior level.

It is essential that you have passion for and experience of teaching children in the infant phase of their learning with an understanding of the requirements of the EYFS through to Year 2. You will need to be an excellent communicator and a person with the ability to lead, motivate inspire and support colleagues. You will be someone who is committed to equality of opportunity for all children within the school; you will bring with you strong, recent experience of children's additional needs, an outstanding teacher with high expectations of children's behavior, attainment and progress..

Visits to the school are strongly recommended. Please telephone the school to make an appointment.

St Martin's Academy is committed to the protection of children and as such follows stringent safer recruitment procedures. All offers of employment are subject to an enhanced DBS check and other pre-employment checks.
