Assistant Principal (Primary)

A rare and exciting opportunity to shape and lead a new 4-16 Alternative Provision Free School as part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Aspire Academy is a new Alternative Provision set up under the Free School route and situated in Harlow, Essex. Our mission is to provide the highest quality, most inclusive alternative provision for some of the most vulnerable and needy local children and young people aged 4-16, for whom mainstream provision is not proving appropriate or successful. We open with approximately 88fte pupils and this will rise to 107 fte by 2016.

We offer medium and long placements on a full-time or part-time basis. The majority of places have been commissioned by local schools/academies and the Local Authority.

The post role is described in the attached and downloadable Recruitment Pack. This role is not for the faint-hearted. The challenges will be significant, but the rewards will be substantial. As part of the founding Senior Leadership Team you will have a pivotal role in establishing the vision and ethos, staffing, curriculum and operational structure of the Academy. Most importantly you will relish the existing opportunity to lay down the solid foundations for Aspire Academy to become a role model for effective Alternative Provision.

That's why it is critical we recruit innovative and inspirational leaders; people who are both passionate about alternative provision and who can point to an outstanding record of achievement already and preferably with experience in this or related sector. With leadership styles which are inclusive and based on sound judgement, you'll be able to work effectively with the Principal, the Trust Board, the Governing Body, the staff, the parents, learners, commissioners and all relevant stakeholders.
