Job overview

Learning more than they thought possible!

Hampton Academy is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced English Teacher to work alongside our Programme Leader and two existing APLs to continue our journey to Outstanding. English Language GCSE results last year rose by 13% and are above the national average.

The English Programme area is based in one of our three new college buildings and the seven teachers work in close collaboration to deliver good and improving results for all learners. Precise areas of responsibility will be negotiated with the successful candidate, but are likely to encompass work across all three key stages including our recently opened sixth form, where we are keen to develop further the teaching of both English and Media at A-level.

Hampton Academy is an innovative 11-18 sponsored academy run by the Learning Schools Trust, with a strong emphasis on personalised learning and exciting international links through our parent company in Sweden. Last month our brand new Upper College opened to complete our four year rebuilding programme for 11-16 students; the remodelled sixth form centre is scheduled to open later this term.

Please telephone Zoe Lawrence on 020 8979 4754 or email zoe.lawrence@hamptonacademy.org.uk if you wish to visit the academy ahead of applying for this exciting post.

Closing date: Thursday 9th October
Interviews: w/b 13th October

The LST is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates must be willing to undergo Enhanced DBS and other checks appropriate to the post

Learning Schools Trust Academies

The Academies at Hampton and Twickenham will open in September 2010 with new and refurbished buildings due to be completed in 2013. Their aim is to provide local students with an education that meets all their needs, challenges their aspirations and provides them with competencies and quali?cations that prepare them for life and for a lifetime of further learning.

Hampton and Twickenham Academies are sponsored by the Learning Schools Trust, set up by Kunskapsskolan, with the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames as co-sponsor.

Kunskapsskolan is one of the largest providers of secondary education in Sweden, operating 32 schools with over 10,000 students. Our schools are state-funded, free of charge, non-selective, inclusive and are not faith based. The schools are popular and successful with results well above the national average.

Our schools operate a unique, personalised learning approach, valuing every student as an individual. Our method focuses on developing the goals and motivations of each student through the work of a personal tutor. The schools provide a ?exible curriculum and timetable that is adapted to meet the different learning needs of each student. The atmosphere in the schools is one that develops high aspirations, positive relationships and student responsibility for their learning and community.

Kunskapsskolan has plans to widen its network of schools across England and in other countries around the world. The Hampton and Twickenham Academies will be able to draw on the expertise and specialist resources of other schools in the group. Students will bene?t from strong links to other schools around the world. Staff at the Academy will participate in exchanges and contribute to the development of international best practice.
