'Working together to promote independence, achievement and life long learning for all'

In October 2014, Severndale Specialist Academy in partnership with Shrewsbury College will open a new vocational learning centre in Shrewsbury, 'FUTURES'.

Students accessing the FUTURES centre will enrol on to our foundation learning course which is designed to cover a number of subject areas including hospitality.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-organised and creative person to manage our Cafe on the brand new FUTURES premise and deliver workshops to learners age 16+ with Special Educational Needs.

Ideally we are looking to appoint a person with extensive experience in cafe/coffee shop trade but also an understanding of the needs of our pupils. Previous experience working with young adults with Special Educational Needs would be a distinct advantage.

Our team will be working with local business and the community to develop enterprise events and opportunities. The successful candidate may be expected to, on occasion and by mutual agreement with the management team, provide support during evenings and weekends.

We are looking for someone with the aspirations and desire to make a difference by providing exceptional care, guidance and support, so that pupils thrive and make excellent progress in their personal development. A NVQ level 3, PTTLS or other relevant qualification as a minimum is required.

Closing date for applications: Friday 3rd October 2014 at 9:00am

Severndale Specialist Academy caters for children and young people from 3-25 years old. We are a large special school with over 400 pupils and students on role.

We cater for a wide variety of needs from PMLD to MLD, on three separate sites; our main site, an MLD base at a mainstream high school, and provision at Shrewsbury College, our local FE College.

We have excellent facilities, a dedicated and well-trained staff group and very good links with a wide range of agencies. We are extremely well supported by our parents and carers.

In short Severndale Specialist Academy is a professionally challenging but hugely rewarding place to work.
