Caretaker

The Governors of Cefn Mawr County Primary School are seeking to appoint a new Caretaker.

The range of work carried out by the Caretaker covers the maintenance of the premises (internal and external) under the direction of the Headteacher.

Main Duties and Responsibilities-

• To provide a high quality maintenance service within the school building including cleaning, lighting, decoration and heating.
• Carry out routine and non- routine security procedures for the school building and grounds, including, as keyholder, opening, closing and responding to alarm callout, as well as ad-hoc emergencies and caretaker responsibilities associated with evening bookings.
• Unlock the building each morning and check for vandalism or damage, report this and clear up where necessary. Carry out all routine procedures as well as minor repairs, using appropriate maintenance tools.
• General gardening and clearing of weeds, rubbish from grounds and emptying bins.
• Ordering, distributing and safe storage of all materials related to caretaking and cleaning. Maintaining storage areas in a clean and tidy condition.
• Make arrangements via the Headteacher for repairs or maintenance beyond the capability of the Caretaker to be carried out by a contractor. Supervise contractors on site.
• Cleaning as directed.
• Monitor building, cleaning and ground maintenance work carried out by contractors in accordance with set procedures.
