City Leader Teacher of the Deaf, Leeds

Join us to change the lives of deaf and hearing impaired children and young people in Leeds.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the team for deaf and hearing impaired children within Leeds City Council's recently reorganised Sensory Service.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the teams of teachers and other specialist workers in both the peripatetic role and in resourced provisions.
  • Shape the future of educational provision for deaf and hearing impaired children and young people in Leeds
  • Be instrumental in the development of the newly restructured Sensory Service within Leeds

You will:

  • Be a qualified and knowledgeable teacher of the deaf with substantial experience of management within an education service for deaf children
  • Have excellent leadership and management skills with the drive and ambition to improve the life chances of deaf children and young people across Leeds
  • Have a commitment to increasing the voice and influence of deaf children and helping to create a Child Friendly City.
  • Have skills in BSL equivalent to level 2 or above.
