Job overview

Class Teacher/SENCO, Northamptonshire

The David Ross Education Trust is looking for an outstanding individual to play a key role in developing and establishing our new primary free school, Malcolm Arnold Prep.

The school, which will be built next to Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton, will open in September 2014 and will eventually educate over 400 pupils.

We are looking for a fantastic class teacher who will be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils, ensuring equality of opportunity for all. The selected candidate will treat pupils with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and uphold the values and ethos of the Christian faith.

This is a project that DRET is working with in partnership with Sussex House School, an outstanding independent preparatory school. Sussex House prides itself in creating an environment in which there is a sense of striving for learning, creativity and sporting achievement and where pupils can feel a strong sense of belonging and personal involvement. This is the model on which our free school will thrive to deliver the highest possible standard of education for primary pupils in Northampton.

An attractive salary package is available for the right candidate.

Broadening horizons and growing passions...

We are a new state-funded primary preparatory school, which opened in September 2014 for reception pupils. In September 2016 we moved into our brand new, purpose-built school building, which is located on the Malcolm Arnold Academy Campus. Our school is committed to ensuring that our children not only excel in the classroom, but also gain the skills and passions to enable them to be successful long into their futures.

We focus on positive behaviour management systems and promote the values we would like our children to embody through our MAPS Code of Conduct. Our code is simple and well-understood, even by Reception children:

  • Make kind choices
  • Aim high; seek new challenges
  • Persevere; always try your best
  • Show respect and good manners

Our school has strong links with the Diocese of Peterborough and is a Church of England school which is fully supportive of the Christian faith. However, our school values system transcends religion and we are fully inclusive of all faiths and none.
