Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding practitioner to the post of Deputy Director for Mathematics. The ideal candidate will contribute to the effective leadership of the Maths Faculty, mentoring and providing guidance to teachers in the faculty.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and ambitious individual to become a leader and to play an important role in providing cutting edge maths pedagogy through, amongst other things, the Maths Mastery programme at KS3. Specific leadership responsibilities will be matched to the strengths of the successful candidate.

You will join a lively, friendly and supportive team of specialist Maths teachers who have achieved excellent results: 20% A*-A, and 75% A*-C (2014). These results mean that mathematics is very popular at Key Stage 5, which gives you a great opportunity to teach up to the very highest level.

Successful candidates must:

  • Have a good proven track record in raising attainment and accelerating progress
  • Be a teacher with consistently 'Good' or 'Outstanding' classroom practice
  • Be able to inspire and develop consistent 'Good or Better' learning and teaching in others
  • Able to teach across the full age and ability range at age 11-16, including A-level.
  • Have high expectations of themselves and others
  • Be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Have excellent subject knowledge
  • Be flexible and a good team player
  • Be a passionate advocate of the subject who contributes effectively to departmental development
  • Able and willing to make a full contribution to the life of the school.
