Job overview

Deputy Head, Leicester

(2 posts)

This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative, talented and ambitious senior leader to provide excellent leadership to a successful and high achieving new school. The vision for our school is simple; we want to become outstanding in all aspects with our Islamic ethos being central to everything we do.

Madani Girls School opened in 2012 and originated from the hugely successful Madani High School which split approximately eighteen months ago into 2 new schools. These 2 new schools are part of Madani Schools Federation.

Recently, we had a positive Ofsted inspection whereby we were graded 'good' overall with many outstanding aspects. Inspectors recognised our many strengths by making comments such as, 'Students relish learning..', 'the school has an exceptionally positive climate for learning..' and 'classrooms are vibrant environments..'

Historically, Madani High School which opened in 2007, was a heavily oversubscribed and a very successful school. Every year since opening, our headline GCSE 5+ A*-C (including E+M) % results were well above the National average and we were one of the highest performing schools in Leicester. The Schools Minister also wrote a letter to Madani Girls School stating that; 'we are amongst the 100 top performing schools with respect to progress made'. Our students are exceptionally well behaved and very committed. The attendance rates for our school are amongst the highest in the city.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled professional who would like to positively contribute in our journey as we move towards becoming outstanding in all aspects. We are committed in developing the successful senior leader appointed towards a Headship position within a few years.

Closing date for applying: 9.00am on Thursday 1st May 2014
Short listing: Thursday 1st May 2014 (provisional date)
Interviews will take place on: Week beginning Monday 5th May 2014

Madani Girls’ School is one half of the Madani Schools Federation, an Islamic secondary school located in the city of Leicester. Madani Schools Federation is a secondary school with separate streams for boys and girls, each having around 300 pupils aged 11-16, making it smaller than the average secondary school. Madani first opened in 2012 with its current streaming policy, having previously been fully co-educational. The school’s intake is made almost entirely of Muslim students.

Values and Vision

Madani Girls’ School runs an entirely separate stream of students and staff from its partner, Madani Boys’ School, although both share the same site. The school has an entirely female student and staff body, with separate recreational areas and staff rooms, but sharing certain facilities such as the library. The curriculum at Madani Girls’ School stays true to Islamic traditions, but still offers a balanced range of core subjects and GCSEs. The school also strongly emphasises the values of tolerance and respect for other faiths outside of school.

Ofsted

“Teaching in most subjects, including English and mathematics, is usually good and sometimes outstanding. This is because teachers encourage students to think for themselves. For example, in a religious education lesson, students were given the opportunity to think through the issues independently so that they asked the right questions and selected the most relevant information.”
