Following the retirement of one of our Deputy Headteachers, the governors of the school are seeking to recruit an outstanding and motivated Deputy Headteacher with a passion for raising standards who can, along with the Headteacher and SLT, provide strategic leadership for our 'good' and improving school. In January 2014, Sharples School was ranked in the top 5% of schools nationally for GCSE Value Added Best 8 by the DFE. Our Science Specialism drives whole school improvement and celebrates outstanding results year on year. The key areas of responsibility initially will be:-

  • to ensure a school wide focus on Achievement and Standards;
  • develop and quality assure, curriculum policy and innovation at KS3 and 4, including the Options process, and ensure it maximises achievement for all;
  • ensure that the Science Specialism is a driver in raising whole school performance;
  • prepare statistical analyses of the school's performance and target setting for internal and external use, including coordination of the School Self Evaluation process;
  • to be the Raising Standards Lead (ref PiXL) and ensure data, assessment and reporting procedures are robust, timely and effective and improve whole school achievement and progress at KS3 and KS4.
