Following the promotion of the Deputy Headteacher to the role of Headteacher, we are seeking to recruit an outstanding and motivated Deputy Headteacher who is able to provide the vision and strategic leadership for our excellent school. You will join a team of ambitious senior leaders who are committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for all our students.

Over the last two years we have been placed in the top 100 non-selective state schools in the country for our GCSE exam performance, and this year saw another improvement with 87% of students achieving 5A*-C, including English and Maths, at GCSE and 64% of students achieving A*-B at A level. However, there is still much to do and you will have the opportunity to make a considerable impact on the future direction of this already highly successful, oversubscribed and vibrant girls' Academy. The two Deputy Headteachers lead on significant areas of the school's work; the job description outlines the specific responsibilities of the postholder, however account will be made of each applicant's individual strengths. We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an outstanding classroom practitioner
  • Has a proven track record of success, particularly in relation to improving the quality of teaching and learning
  • Understands how to effect cultural change and embraces a growth mindset
  • Can work effectively as a team
  • Has the ability to lead, inspire and develop colleagues and students
  • Has high expectations of self and others
  • Has the ability to operate at a strategic level including effective use of data, self-evaluation and quality assurance processes
  • Is ambitious to become a Headteacher
  • Can help us move the school to outstanding by any external measure

Applicants will be required to demonstrate their commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in line with the school's policies and procedures. A satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this role. The school will request references before interview.

Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the school for a visit before applying.

Please contact Mrs Jill Doh to arrange a visit or to obtain an application form jdoh@rosebery.surrey.sch.uk. Alternatively, please visit www.roseberyschool.co.uk.

Closing date: Noon on Tuesday, 30th September 2014.
