Are you a strategic leader, ideally from a Secondary School or Academy background with first class knowledge and experience of the current educational environment at Head or Deputy Head level?

Since 2000 SkillForce has established itself as a Charitable alternative education provider, working in partnership with schools across the UK, changing the lives of over 50,000 young people, developing their skills and preparing them for the next steps in education work and training.

Our instructors, mainly from an ex-services background, use activity based learning in the classroom and activities beyond to inspire.

Contract Type: Full Time Fractional Contract 49.6 weeks

About SkillForce:

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Learning. The successful candidate must be capable of leading our programme delivery for young people successfully. He/she will ensure we have the structure in place to deliver outstanding training resulting in the highest calibre of Instructor.

Organisation:

The Director of Learning will form part of a team of highly qualified and experienced executives; Director of Finance, Planning & Risk, Director of Fundraising and Director of Operations and will report to the Chief Executive.

About the role:

  • Accountability for the design and implementation of a programme and product strategy which supports the current and future business of the charity.
  • To lead programme measurement, improvement and development, working along side a number of educational organisations to ensure current and future demands are met.
  • Leading the understanding across the charity of the developments in policy, quality and strategy concerning young people.
  • To establish and lead meaningful relationships with appropriate private, public and third sector bodies.
  • Accountability for establishing and embedding all policies, standards and measures to support a high performing safe organisation.
  • To design and implement a people strategy for employees and volunteers to include resourcing, training and performance culture.

About you:

Your current expertise in the education sector will enable you to drive the education agenda of SkillForce which is at the heart of the Charity's mission.

You are a strategic leader, ideally from a Secondary School or Academy background with first class knowledge and experience of the current educational environment at Head or Deputy Head level.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate a track record of establishing and tracking policy and standards in order to achieve high performance.

You will also:

  • have excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • be a strong people manager and highly effective team player.

This role is predominantly based in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire but travel around the UK will be required.

The candidate assessment for this role will take place in two stages, the first of which will take place week commencing 12th May and the second stage will take place week commencing 19th May.
