Job overview

We are looking for a highly effective practitioner to become a member of the school's extended senior leadership team with an overview of English and a whole school responsibility for Communications.  Additionally the role will share responsibilities for the day to day organisation, decision making, discipline and welfare, staff duties, and to support his/her colleagues.
This is an exciting role new to our school for which the successful candidate will need to be driven and, whilst experience is important, we are looking for someone with aptitude rather than length of service.

Lindsworth School is a large special school for secondary aged pupils (11-16) which incorporates a small residential provision. The school caters for boys and girls from across Birmingham, all of whom have social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) as well as a range of other complex needs including ADHD, ASC, and related conditions. The majority of pupils are also known to one or more support agencies such as Social Services, CAMHS, the Police or Youth Offending Service.

The school has recently been put into special measures by OFSTED.  As a result we are under going significant reorganisation of structures and systems, in order to better meet the needs of our pupils and deliver improved social and academic outcomes. This is an opportunity to be part of a forward thinking pro-active team committed to improving outcomes for very vulnerable young people. We have high expectations that the school will make rapid progress.

We can offer you:

  • A highly rewarding and often challenging role within a hardworking and supportive team.
  • Opportunities for professional and career development.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and forward-looking team committed to achieving the best for the pupils.

Candidates are expected to make an informal visit. Please contact Vanessa Wilson, H.R. Manager, to make an appointment.

Closing Date: Friday 10 October 2014, 12.30pm

Further details and application forms are available from Vanessa Wilson on 0121 693 5371 (24 hour answer phone) or email vw@lindsworth.bham.sch.uk

Lindsworth School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.  Successful applicants will also need to provide evidence of their Identity and Right to Work in the UK.
