Newland School for Girls is an 11 - 16 school with places for 750 girls from a city-wide catchment. It has recently undergone a comprehensive renovation and extension to its grade 2 listed building. Following the appointment of our new Head Teacher in January 2014 an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Director of Learning, responsible for our Science and Engineering directorates. The successful candidate will be an inspirational practitioner with excellent curriculum knowledge of Science who has a proven track record in middle leadership and raising standards and achievement. You will lead the directorate, which consists of a small team of four science and one engineering teacher, to create a stimulating learning environment for all girls. Your background will be in science and consideration will be given to any of the science specialism's.

You will be:

  • An experienced, successful middle leader with a proven track record of raising achievement
  • An outstanding teacher with a proven track record of successful outcomes at GCSE
  • Able to lead, develop and inspire colleagues in developing their teaching and teaching and learning
  • An excellent communicator and motivator
