Job overview

Old Swinford Hospital seeks to appoint a dynamic and driven leader of our Sixth Form of 260 students. Old Swinford Hospital School is able to offer the successful applicant single or family accommodation in return for on-call boarding supervision. Residency on site is not, however, a requisite for employment.

Old Swinford Hospital is one of the country's leading state boarding schools. Over fifty per cent of the School's 623 students are boarders who come from a wide range of backgrounds in the UK, EU and overseas.

The School enjoys a very good academic reputation and regularly features in the lists of the most academically successful maintained schools. A highly positive OFSTED inspection took place during Lent term 2013. The school prides itself on a balance of fine academic achievement and providing outstanding opportunities to develop leadership through an extensive extra-curricular programme within which art, drama, sport, music, outdoor pursuits, Duke of Edinburgh and CCF feature strongly.

From Years 7-11 Old Swinford Hospital admits boys. Our Sixth Form is mixed.

Old Swinford Hospital is a voluntary-aided state boarding, aged 11 - 18 years.

We are a Church of England school and pleased to welcome children of any faith or, indeed, none at all.  We want the very best for all of them because we believe that they all have exciting potential and an important contribution to make.

The School has a long history. It was founded under the name Stourbridge Hospital by industrialist Thomas Foley in 1667, in order to teach boys the skills and attributes to become responsible citizens – an aim that still applies in the 21st century.
