Wigan & Leigh College are looking to recruit an innovative and inspirational manager to lead and develop its successful Engineering Department.

This post is responsible for both the Mechanical and Electrical sections of the Engineering department and will effectively manage the day to day running of the teams toward student achievement and attainment. You will have a proven track record of managing a large staff team through the range of performance management processes to ensure that the team is high performing and effective.

The Engineering Department at our Pagefield Centre operate with a dedicated high specification engineering provision with state of the art equipment. The Engineering Team are dedicated to the achievement and success of our students and have an excellent track record in this area.

We are looking for an experienced manager who is an innovative and creative professional with excellent industry experience or knowledge to drive forward the provision at the College through inspirational leadership, continuing to match the educational offer to employer need.

The team cover the following specialisms:

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Power Electronics
  • PLC's
  • Energy Management
  • Electrical and Mechanical Maths
  • Electrical Principals
  • Mechanical Engineering

Wigan and Leigh College is a further education college in Wigan, Greater Manchester, which has been providing education and training locally for more than 150 years. It employs around 1,000 staff and has a student roll of about 17,000. Further education students can choose the A-level professional honours programme or vocational qualifications such as BTECs. An expanding higher education portfolio of foundation degrees, top-up degrees, higher nationals and certificates is available to adult students of all ages, both full-time and part-time. 

Wigan and Leigh College operates from several sites across the borough: the Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts and Pagefield Centre are in Wigan, close to the town centre. The Image Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.
