The School

Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) is looking to propel the school to the next level and shape the future learning community which embraces Asia.

We are a relatively new visionary led international school, pioneering education for the 21st century, with a blend of Asian values and international practices. We have a unique international curriculum, including the IBDP and run a Chinese programme, in addition to fostering the local language and culture (Bahasa Indonesia). Our student population is a mixture of local and international.

We are a two-form entry International school, located on two campuses, one downtown and the other in the new international suburb of Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), Jakarta. We are well resourced, a member of CIS, and our BSD campus is an authorised IB World School.

The downtown campus Jakarta World Academy (JWA) caters for nursery (2 yrs of age) up to grade 5 and today there is an immediate plan for expansion. The city campus is a modern facility complete with pool, gymnasium, computer labs and learning kitchen, providing an excellent learning space and convenience for busy professionals to drop or visit their young children.

Students

SWA and JWA currently have approximately 410 and 120 students respectively, represented from 24 different nations. Students come from business, professional and entrepreneurial families, and most have broad cultural backgrounds and speak at least 2 or 3 languages. Middle school/High school students take an active role in their community services and participate in organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Model United Nations and others.

Curriculum

The BSD campus runs the IB PYP, MYP and DP curriculum while the downtown campus uses an inquiry approach to learning and utilizes the Cambridge Primary syllabus. Academic excellence is pursued in all aspects of learning and reflected in the curriculum on offer. Both schools use technology as a natural part of learning with a one-to-one laptop program from grade 4 and above, and Ipads for younger students.. SWA is recognized to be the only Apple Regional Training Center in Indonesia. Through partnership and co-learning with Peking University, a strong Chinese as a second language curriculum is being developed.

Faculty and Administration

To ensure quality teachings, emphasis is placed on hiring the best possible teachers and maintaining a good student/teachers ratio. Classroom teachers and specialist teachers collaborate alongside Chinese teachers, Indonesian teachers and local teachers' assistants to develop a curriculum that supports life-long learning dispositions.

Jakarta, Indonesia

The city of Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia. Covering an area of 250 sq miles, the city is experiencing robust growth in commerce and industry. A dynamic city of skyscrapers, it is vastly emerging as a central hub strategically located near Singapore for business and Bali for leisure, both of which are just an hour and a half flight away.

Candidate Profile

Required qualifications/experience:

• Bachelor or Graduate degree in education or related fields with good academic background (k-grade5) to start immediately
• Relevant teaching experience and strong curriculum knowledge for Early Years Foundation/Cambridge Primary/Key Stage is a plus
• Knowledge in Chinese language and culture advantageous.
• Previous experience of working with a diverse group of young children and implementing a developmentally appropriate rigorous programme

Salary and Benefits:

Sinarmas World Academy provides a competitive salary and benefit package to all professional staff. Benefits include housing, relocation allowance and tuition benefits for one dependent child. The initial contract period will be two academic years.
