Job overview

Due to increased demand The British School of Yangon is looking to appoint enthusiastic and committed Early Years teachers to join us from August 2014, to work with a dedicated team of teachers within the Key Stage. For candidates with the relevant experience and subject knowledge there is the possibility that management positions may also be available.

The introduction of social and economic reforms and the relaxation of economic sanctions have engendered optimism and interest in Myanmar, resulting in a general business expansion and a large influx of multinational corporations, NGOs and diplomats. Confidence is high that Myanmar will be one of the next rising stars in Asia.

The British Schools Foundation sees a strong demand for a quality international school in Yangon, and will open The British School of Yangon in August 2014. The Foundation is one of the largest networks of British international schools in the world with schools in Spain, China, Russia, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The school prides itself on a very happy atmosphere but shows high attainment in academic, performing arts and sports. We will teach the English National Curriculum with regional modifications to celebrate our host country.

Suitable candidates will:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Education degree or hold a PGCE with the relevant Bachelor's Degree.
  • Have experience and excellent knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum. A minimum of 3 years' teaching experience is essential.
  • Understand and be able to articulate what constitutes outstanding classroom practice.
  • Want to play a part in the co-curricular life of a busy international school.
  • Possess the ambition and enthusiasm to want to play a key role in shaping and developing an outstanding school.
  • Additional advantage would be given to candidates with strong IT skills, including but not only Promethean software/hardware and iPads.
  • Not be afraid to take risks with their teaching.

Remuneration includes competitive salary, housing, international medical cover, annual flights, relocation allowance and bursaries for accompanying children.
